Sweden

According to wildlife rehabilitator Urban Rundström, eight White-tailed Eagles have been found dead or sick near Oskarshamn last month. Seemingly there is no explanation, except “a form of meningitis”. 22 December 2016, Blog VilthjalpenOskarshamn/Oskarshamnsbygdens Fågelklubb http://kfvoskarshamn.blogspot.de/

As of today, I found 14 cases of H5N8 in White-tailed Eagles, confirmed by local authorities in Europe since November 2016
  • 1 Denmark
  • 5 Finland
  • 6 Germany
  • 1 Netherlands ("accidental discovery" - the bird was in good physical condition when it was illegally shot and killed)
  • 1 Sweden
