one of the tit got so frustrated that it searched the camera for seeds. :D

there are some seeds but they are hard to get from the feeder. i guess that they slide slowly to the reach of tits.

 Poor little birds really have to work hard for a meal. They are certainly determined to get something.

The tit thinks: "I will have a look how the neighbour is eating."

greenfinches seem to dominate over great tits but tree sparrows and marsh tits don't much care if a greenfinch is sitting on the perch and eating. they just go around it to the hole and take seeds.

it seems that there are two kinds of seeds: little round ones and bigger longish and flat ones. if the round small seeds are rape seeds i guess the longish seeds could be sunflower seeds. they seem to be more popular. especially the tree sparrows shovel little seeds off the tray when they are looking for the more tasty bigger seeds.

a pigeon visits every now and then but the rim of the tray is a bit too narrow for it and so it doesn't stay long.

ame: your picture is a dream. Thank you for it.
15:49 I was wondering how fast the light turned - how soon it is getting dark. I have no bird on the picture. It is only to show the early darkness

thanks Bleggi!
like you said it got dark very quickly and there were visitors till it was almost dark. they were so quick that it was impossible to capture pictures but they can be seen in video clips. i managed to record some of them. the first one is from 15.50.

5 minutes later it was almost completely dark but still one ghost came to pick up a seed. i think it was a great tit.

:rotf: Hahaha! What a busy place you captured, Venegor. The birds were very, very quick as they grabbed seeds & ate. Two of the great tits had a fast fight over dominance for a few moments.

Nice picture of the nuthatch, Venegor. We have 4 nuthatch species in the USA, two of which occur where I live, the White-Breated Nuthatch, & the Red-Breasted Nuthatch. Here is a link about them if you are interested. You can also see a picture of our Black-Capped Chickadee & see how closely it resembles the marsh tit of Europe.
