The female greenfinch from yesterday, two pigeons, a flock of great tits, a blue tit and a willow/marsh tit. It's very bad that the fatballs were removed.

I disagree with you about the fatballs.
There is nothing wrong with good quality fatballs placed in a suitable container, but the plastic mesh should be removed first as birds' claws, legs and beaks can be damaged if they get entangled in the mesh. Don't take my word for it .. just google "is plastic mesh over fatballs dangerous to birds?".

Probably they were removed to get a better sight on the feeder for the cam and birds have more space now - and fatballs got another place somewhere else in the garden. We see only a small sector of the whole area ....asteria wrote:The female greenfinch from yesterday, two pigeons, a flock of great tits, a blue tit and a willow/marsh tit. In 2010 fatballs were also placed on the birdfeeder and a lot of birds came, unlike last year.Suzie wrote:I disagree with you about the fatballs.

Whoever provides the fatballs is entitled to place them where they wish.
All I am trying to say is that the plastic mesh is removed before they are put out for the birds.
