Small Bird Feeder Webcam Forum 2014-2015

Post by Bea »

It is already the ninth season, that we can observe the events at the small bird feeder, which is located in Otepää, close to the window of the office of Loodusemees.ee

We are looking forward to articles on Looduskalender main page about the visitors at the feeder, and learn more interesting details about our feathered friends.

Like last season, I want to maintain a list of the spotted species here at the bird feeder - it will be interesting to compare it with the list from last season:

At last! :loveshower:

BTW this season I found a simple way to get rid of sparrow gangs. They don't eat pumpkin and melon seeds, so I place such seeds in the feeder. Great tits eat them while sparrows don't and they almost never appear on my balcony and don't attack great tits. The same thing(pumpkin seeds instead of sunflower ones) can be used here.

Interesting observation on your balcony.

But as far as I remember from last season here at the feeder, it were not sparrows who were mobbing others, but greenfinches who showed very bossy behaviour.

Well, but all of them are hungry in cold times ....
