A Great Tit with a metal (?) ring on its left leg.







What a pity that we can´t do ring reading, ring with its letters/numbers is too small
The Great Tit will stay incognito

Bea, great catch. I think, it's not often that great tits are ringed.

Maybe this one is a Great Tit that was trapped in one of the nets that ornithologists set up on bird migration route "hotspots". Birds get caught in the nets, they pick them out, measure and weigh them and equip them with a ring with codes about that event.
Then they release the birdies and they can continue their way. With a little luck they get trapped again, ring datas can be read, and so conclusions about their migration behaviour can be drawn.
