We start to this season with some changes. The camera moved to a new streaming platform and we can watch it on YouTube now.

And we have a new location of the camera as well!
In previous years the cam was located in Otepää, in a more urban vicinity.
The new location of the camera is at Lake Kooraste (Kanepi Parish, Põlva County)

Quite a few people worked hard to get over the challenges to move to a new streaming platform and bring the camera back to transmission, so that we can follow the events at the Small Bird Feeder.
Thank you all for the efforts!

Hello everybody :hi:

Bird feeder cam is back online, with some changes!

At the moment introduction is only available in Estonian language, I hope I could extract some essentials with the help of Google translator, but the English introduction (which is still to come) will surely give us more interesting facts to know.
:book:

I am very curious which more (?) and which other bird species we will be able to observe now, at the new location.

A nice Crested Tit (Lophophanes cristatus)

Unfortunately the time stamp is a bit very tiny and difficult to see ....

Compared to the picture in the introduction article they still changed something with the whole feeder construction, the bottle with the seeds is out of cam view now, higher, and it got a longer bottle neck :D
And the pole on the left side is away.

thank you for the new camera and the new topic!
the place looks really nice. there is also a lot of the background visible. this gives hope of seeing also other animals around the feeder, not only the birds on the feeding tray.

the sparrow was a tree sparrow (Passer montanus) to be more exact. the other common sparrow is the house sparrow (Passer domesticus). the tree sparrow has a dark spot on the cheek, both males and females. the cheeks of young tree sparrows don't have the the dark spot, but they usually move with adults so they are fairly easy to know. home sparrows have grey cheeks. - both species move in family groups.

house sparrows used to be very common but their numbers have grown smaller in recent years (at least in Finland). there used to be large flocks around in all cities. it seems that tree sparrows may be more numerous nowadays. the sparrows that visit my garden are tree sparrows.

LK Front page =GT :whistling:
The Looduskalender has reached its 14th winter season of the bird camera, in which we see the birds, who visit the feeding house, and their delivery via webcam can monitor. From now on, however, we use the free YOUTUBE.com service.

Special thanks are due to Urmas Lett for the job done and done in recent years, without which webcasting would not have been possible. So far, EENET has provided us with a server service, thanks for the cooperation.

What else has changed? We approached Otepaa closer to the wild birds, that is, to the shores of Kooraste Lake, where there is much less noise pollution.

We've been experimenting with stereo audio with a number of different options for a few years now. Advising swiftly. Here we have to thank the technicians who have technically supported and developed the transfer.......
