Estonian Osprey Nest (Ivo & Iiris) 2020

Good morning everyone

Ivo was very long on the eggs today, from 15:42 till 21:07, so 5 h 25 min!
He seemed a bit restless a few times, but managed to withstand the long shift

Was Iiris still scared of the strange osprey on the nest the day before? Previously it wasn't characteristic of her to stay away so long. Anyway, Ivo deserves to be approved for his patience.

Ivo, Iiris urgently needs breakfish!

So it took Ivo three and a half hours to read the forum, go fishing, eat most of the fish and bring the tail. So cute!
Whats's this in the middle of the lens? A spider? It's moving downwards now.

When I first began watching Irma and Ivo (2017) I was impressed at how the bark camouflages the chicks and also hides them. I only saw it once but Irma covered the chicks with a piece of bark before taking off to chase another bird. My favorite camouflage is how much the chicks' feathers resemble pine cones when they reach a certain age. I've seen one pine cone in every nest so far - usually later than several weeks.

5:49am Iiris came to the nest and Ivo had to leave





He returned at 6:05am with some nest material but left right away again

Thank you all for the documentation and the pictures that make the nestlife during this quite a dull brooding period more vivid.

08:15 It's Ivo brooding, Iiris must be self-catering

When Ivo sits on the eggs, he fidgets and with a streched neck scrutinizes the surroundings whereas Iiris is mostly motionless and "round-shouldered". But now with the bark in abundance, they both nibble at it.

1:38pm Ivo signalling about someone flying over the nest, the intruder landed for a second and flew off to the dead tree.

I checked the video again and could only recognise two letters on the other bird's ring "ZK" (not 100% sure though)

Thanks for reportings of the guest - at least it is sure, that s/he was Estonian, according to the ring color. And Ivo went to the submissive position - does it mean that the visitor was a female? Hopefully we'll get more info later.

Thank you for the observations and pictures of the new osprey-intruder, this time identifiable by the ring.

Do you happen to know who made the left upper corner foggy, we don't have chicks yet?
