.. and another one. Iiris was looking at the egg; she moved some sticks around it and seemed to want to lay down on it before Ivo got up.

Then Ivo got up, she stumbled a bit backwards and nearly stepped on both other eggs. She clearly seemed confused about where to lay down.

Hello and good morning!

At 05:32:25 Ivo (finally!) moved the stray egg back into the nest bowl. Hopefully not too late for viability, though I kinda doubt it

Here's a not very revealing screengrab:

I also doubt that the egg will hatch, but there may be a miracle happen

I remember this,

Osprey nest in Lolo, Montana, USA
Harriet, female resident has several males coming and going this year. The latest male resident, Swoop suspected that the egg was not his own, so he kicked the egg out of the nest. The egg stuck at the edge of the nest, and Harriet retrieved it. Now they have two eggs, one of which is the lost egg.

Does Harriet get to keep egg #3? She goes to the edge and pulls it back in! 2020 04 28

Good morning friends,
hooray, the out of place egg is back where it should be, under Iiri's plumage. Now I hope that the warmth of Iris and Ivo makes up for everything.

So Ivo is not only a great fisherman, always readily incubating and defending the nest but he also has osprey wisdom to figure out what to do! He must have been thinking about it the whole night. :D

Thank you all very much for your documentation and pictures.

I hope that this slow Ivo thought process will keep the egg alive! :innocent:

Did anybody record this? I have nothing, at that time it was 4:32 in Germany.
I have now in retrospect made a recording with a desktop capture software of the youtube video. But it's pretty bad, I would only upload it if no other recording exists...

I didn't, partly because it really wasn't much to see (Ivo's back was turned to the cam), also because it was after 11:00 here when I found the moment on rewind, and I was (supposed to be) doing some other things. Probably should've recorded it, though, just for the record. :whistling:

PS Looks like no Pontu archives this year? I wonder why...

Yes, it was not good to see, Ivo was covering it up. But you could see a little..
(Yes, no Pontu archive this year... )

My video is bad, but it's better than nothing. At 0:40 Ivo makes a first attempt. At 1:59 he makes a new try which is successful!

mogga, thank you for making it possible for us to see the great moment of Ivo's gathering all his babies together.  Let's hope to see all three hatching.

Great to see how slowly, gently and carefully Ivo gets down on the eggs and cleans his beak after having eaten most of the fish. 8-)

Good morning on a cloudy day.
