Re: ESTLAT Osprey Nest Webcam Discussion 2012
Uno just returned to the nest. Took him some attempts to land, apparently. There's still noise from above the cam, so I guess one of the parents is up there.
And by the way, hello everybody! I've been watching and reading for a couple of weeks now and finally decided to register and join this wonderful community. Sorry for not introducing myself right away, but OMG Uno fledged!!!

I think Uno really flew, but I did not actually see it.jopie wrote:8.16
Very strange anyhow, to see only 2 juvies........
Edit: and now 3 again, didn't see where Uno came from
Maybe there is a protruding branch at the left side of the nest where they can jump on?

Madis brings a fish, Uno grabs it out of his talon, Madis flies away.

Madis just deliverd a fish to Uno, like a reward.
On one attempt to come back to the nest, Uno flew straight at the camera and either landed or stumbled over the cam support. A few minutes later he managed to land on the left side of the nest, surprising gracefully. A good showing, all around.

Alice, strange thing is, he was flapping all the time he was at the edge on the left side but when he went out of sight there was nothing to see or hear, so I guessed he was on a large protruding branch at the left.alice44 wrote: I think Uno really flew, but I did not actually see it.

Maybe when he has had enough to eat, he'll go? I expected him to go, but then again..... We'll see...

He really did fly, I saw him trying to land and missing, and then actually landing.jopie wrote: Alice, strange thing is, he was flapping all the time he was at the edge on the left side but when he went out of sight there was nothing to see or hear, so I guessed he was on a large protruding branch at the left.

Uno had almost finished the fish, when Elo demanded a piece, some tearing back and forth and of course Elo, the more agressive won.

Madis brings a fish. Uno is very interested and asks to be fed, then grabs the fish and starts to eat it by himself...
... then decides to lie on it instead as an alarm call sounds.
After some more bites, Elo takes over as Uno looks on.
Uno at the edge of the nest, preparing to have another go?

Danger warning from one of the parents on the cam, all 3 dive to the bottom of the nest.

It did not go according to the people who know, think it has to go.
They fly away the first time and do not return right away.
Sometimes they disappear for "ever" or they return to the nest in the evening to eat and/or roost in the nest.
So, I think Uno was somewhere at the left side of the nest on a branch.

At the Latvian nest except for the first one who flew before he was ready the rest of the chicks have returned regularly.
Earlier I was having trouble because the sound was out of sync but it seems better now.
10:58 as the chicks are screaming for food (and getting it).

Hi Alice, I do not know anything about it; I only know what other people told about the leaving of the young ones.

I think the second to fly will be Nori. She/he is more curious and follows Uno... Elo is more concerned about his food
