I think Piret was trying to cast a pellet (ospreys do that, don't they? :puzzled: ) She never made any sounds while opening her jaw mouth as far as she could..

There have been lots of comings and goings this morning. And clearly there is some activity on a branch above the nest - perhaps attempted matings?

Piret was on the nest and a male landed (I think was Madis) - he kept his wings out and his back turned to her. She preened and ignored him. After several minutes, he turned toward her and jumped on her back, but slid right off, (edited: I think that is seen in Fleur's last post, which was not there when I started to type!) then went up to the branch above.

Maertha's post has me thinking, tho. Careful feather comparisons are needed! The ospreys have such lovely coloring and each one seems to have a slightly different pattern, especially on the top of the head and around the eyes.

Fleur, I think it is Madis all the time, but Maertha's post make me look more closely.

good morning!
it really seemed that there was a third wheel at the nest in maertha's video. the ring was not in the rigth foot. and this third wheel wasn't welcome.

Nancy: Sparrowfeeder is our member who gave us the link to the Polish WTE-nest (if i remember right).
yep, i found it. it's here: viewtopic.php?p=136046#p136046

 Interesting new information, thank you. Yes, the forehead feathers are like fingerprint.

I tried to take pics where they can be seen + some happenings like mating etc:

Is it possible that there is a complete new bird - the right one has no rings, as far as I can see on the fotos here ... :puzzled:

The little white rings are hard to see -- depending on the light, but it might be possible.

(and stealing fish in a nest it does not belong? Or did it bring the fish and just eat, sitting there in front of the nest owner? This fight looks a bit exciting. )
