Vote for ospret names ~ 2017
Vote for ospret names!
Our osprets got rings with letters DX and DZ
Referring to their weight and measurements DX is assumed to be a female and DZ a male bird.
As the first letters of their rings is a D and the second letters X and Z are a bit more problematic, we only vote for names beginning with D.
And as we have Estonian birds in nests in Estonia we want of course Estonian names for them :)
Please use this database of Estonian names with D for your choice - one female name and one male:
Female names
http://nimi.ee/tudrukute-nimed/d/
Male names
http://nimi.ee/poiste-nimed/d/
Our Estonian members explained that the names are not naturally Estonian names though, but in use in Estonia.
Vote will stay open until Sunday evening (16. July), so that members who are only able to read the forum at weekends can vote also.
Happy voting for everyone!

I think for DX would be a nice name
Dara or Daria
and for DZ (he reminds me so of Ivar) I would choose a name that sounds muscular
Danel or Danver

Of the all names proposed for girls, I really liked the name Deivi. It is very soft when pronounced and there are letters I and V .
And from the list of names for boys, I liked most of all Derek. It sounds like masculine and very appropriate for our chick.
It is interesting to listen to other opinions.

Hmm. Nice idea to vote for names - I already did. Number of active users = number names/combinations I think Ülo should have the privilege to decide on this (he knows better than we do, he has a very good instinct AND field practice - I envy him ). I (personally) trust him and would like to give back some support for his work! He does so well
Just a suggestion - I am quite new to this forum and I adore these ospreys (although ravens are my favorite birds).

Now that the vote for everyone has already started it will be continued - and I hope Ülo will vote too - his input is highly appreciated!
Public vote is also a possibility to take part in naming process for those members, who can't be around in the forum and contribute permanently, but are passionate osprey fans though.
Vote is open for until only one day now, it is not unusual that there are still no "favourites" ... maybe they will show up with some more votes, it is still time enough.
So keep on voting please!

So that both names have "i" letter as in Irma and Ivo and the letters in their rings are also used

Suggestion for names:
Female: Dana
Male: Dan
Nice to have similar names for osprets in the same nest. Names are also easy to remember and easy for those who speak other language than Estonian.
