The rain is pouring on the nest - luckily Irma can so far supply her mumbrella for the offspring :D It is not only wet, also the temperature is low when raining, these chicks need still warmth and shelter from Irma - and Irma is a dedicated mother for all her chicks, every year, as we have witnessed for six years by now

I can hear the wind blowing very hard
It is too dark to see anything. I’m scared. 00:12

The chicks are in a cuddle on the nest and Irma and Ivo are on the dead tree.
The wind is blowing this morning.
One of the chicks is asking for fish.
I read that earlier, Ivo brought in a big fish.
I hope that the wind and the weather calms down at some time today!

Sappheira, I laughed at your two photos of Irma on top of her chicks, looking like she is standing on them. I watched a bit around 9:18 while she managed some branches while keeping one wing over the big osprets. It was quite a view - first watching one of the young try to manage a stick himself and put its beak on a stick a few times. Irma would move the stick and while she was looking around, the ospret would move it differently, and then Irma would turn around and move it again.

Finally, the last chick outside of her wings stood up and tried to climb under (presumably due to the strong winds), but Irma's wing couldn't quite reach around that chick as your photos show. I hope someone will have photos or a video. It nearly brought tears to my eyes to see how hard she works to take care of her young, so carefully. She is a wonderful mother to her chicks.

Yes, it is very touching to watch how she feeds them, heats them. Last year and in 2016 I was always interested in watching her when on hot days she stood and moved slowly, together with the sun, to give a shadow to her children. An amazing bird. :2thumbsup: :loveshower:

Good day!
Thank you all for the pictures and comments. Irma is simply wonderful, indeed. For me it was very moving yesterday.. The whole evening it was raining quite hard, and it was such a sight - Irma wet, bending low as she can, protecting all her chicks from wind and the rain.
It was raining also when it got dark, and this dark, bended silhouette of Irma in the rain was so touching to see...

Irma returned to the nest, checked that the chicks were all right and flew away to the tree where Ivo was already sitting.
