Afternoon fish for Jaak

Ivo, you have been an outstanding Dad and provider also this season! :2thumbsup:

Ivo and Jaak can be heard talking quite a while after this delivery. Also at 17:25 - Ivo with his usual whistles, Jaak in his characteristic voice.

Hello everybody! Hello Håkan! Do you think the visitor is "willow warbler"(en), "fitis"(ger), Phylloscopus trochilus (latin)?

Hooded crows have taken over the whole area - no disturbing ospreys. :headroll:

Yes, willow warbler or chiffchaff (Fitis oder Zilpzalp). They are difficult to differentiate from this distance if they are not calling / singing because there are only tiny differences of the feet, beak and stripe above the eyes.

Hi Hellem, I thought a hooded crow (Elster) is not so big as those birds were at 7.25 h.

A hooded crow is 'Nebelkrähe' in German language. 'Elster' is magpie in English.
There are many hooded crows in this forest. Near our osprey nest there are especially lots of them at the beginning and at the end of the breeding season.

If you are living in Germany or France, you have to add 1 hour to the time that your PC / Smartphone shows. We use the Estonian time / camera time to describe when something happened.

If it was one of our ospreys I think more it could have been Jaak, but that´s only my gut feeling :D

At 06:19:36 an osprey calls and at 06:19:45/46 an osprey appears in the sky in the upper left corner and at 06:19:49 he appears gliding along in the upper right corner, so he flew a curve towards the nest and then passed along.

Yes, that was more the sound of Jaak than Ivo's voice.
But could have been a foreign osprey, too... :puzzled:

Often it's not so easy to say which birds are in the dead tree. The distance is large and the size of a bird can hardly be estimated.

I made a video of the event and in the end added 2 pictures from the beginning of this season when a hooded crow came very near to the nest.

It´s only the shadow of the cam support. Nearly same silhouette at 14:38 like on your pic from 14:15, only a little bit difference because the angle of the sun changed.

So that's it.. ah, no more Jaak around. The voice of Nature has called him and he has responded. The empty nest syndrome is really difficult.. Image
There are many sounds of migrating birds, geese at ~ 04.00 a.m., 07:07, sometimes cranes, at 06:49 an osprey.
Possibly Ivo will still show up, to check that everyone has really left.

Just read that not only females, but also osprets near me in Northern Finland have already started migration even several days ago and many of them fly over Estonia.

Empty nest
(And not even Florida Bald Eagles have settled down yet on their territories and nests!)

Thank you all on this thread for all reports, pictures, videos and info during the season! It was a pleasure to follow this happy nest this year, too! I wish Irma, Ivo, Jaak, Heli and Kaja a safe migration  and look forward to the seventh cam year in this nest next spring :2thumbsup: Hope to see you all in April 2019 again

Hello!
Thank you all for the many beautiful photos and videos. The ospreys are on their way to Africa and I wish them a pleasant journey.

Will Irma come back next year? And Ivo hopefully come back too?

Thank you all!
