Summi wrote: April 16th, 2019, 4:07 pm Most likely it was. From Mogga's and 2Rik's videos of yesterday as far as I could see it was an unringed osprey who stopped on the nest for a while. But after the WTE disapppeared in the woods, a pair of birds were seen at the left side of the nest to fly one after the other... :puzzled: I try to think optimimistically that it was Ivo and ....
Summi, I think they were pigeons.
If we mean the same situation. I still remember that.

Currently it looks for me that this years´ nest season here "stands or falls" with the appearance of Irma on this nest, more than ever.

She is the constant since 6 years, Ivo is her third male during this time. In every of these seasons she raised osprets successfully. The location of the nest is excellent, natural waters and (especially) the fish farm not far are a guarantee for unlimited food source.

Irma does not yet know about this adult WtE whopper and the roaming WtE youngster. I suppose she would try to defend her nest, even when she had no male at her side in the beginning. Successful? I don´t dare to estimate this. A defending osprey couple had probably higher chances to be successful or at least reach a tolerance level. But the danger would live nearby ....

I am pretty sure this WtE is not interested in the nest itself, but as it belongs to the territory that it wants to establish as hers, she has to have an eye on it.
I am still not sure about the role that the WtE youngster plays in this all :puzzled:

So were my thoughts.
That's why I wrote that their decision would be very interesting. Because it is her nest and if she stays, Ivo would come back.
I think. :puzzled:

But first it would be nice to see Irma at least once. To know that she is well. =)
That would do me good and almost satisfy me.

I was hoping that there had been an Ivo sighting on the nest.
My thought is that Irma & Ivo’s, nest is too small for the WTE. Plus, they like trees that provide a little shade. Whereas the Ospreys prefer an open platform.
I’m with everyone counting on Irma’s arrival! I don’t think that she will prefer any other nest than this nest. Right?
Fingers crossed!

I´m very nervous too about the WTE presence. It seems two have been observed

Fingers , toes and eyes crossed for Irma´s return and reunion with Ivo .

 Jojo, yes, everything is crossed and praying that everything goes well on the nest.
The WTE’s need to find another area!
The fishing ponds, near the nest are for Irma and Ivo!

Three years ago I came to learn about this web cam and forum and ever since I am stuck with it, especially Irma and Ivo.
I have experienced a for me complete new world and I would never have imagined the joy, excitment and thrill I got out of it.

When the eagle arrived on the nest I was totally impressed by its size. Compared to it our ospreys are tiny birds.

I share the opinion of Bea that the eagle is most probably not interested in the nest but has a careful eye on it because it is in its territory. So this eagle could be a permanent threat.

As sad as I most probably will be if the nest stays for this year unattended, as much understanding I will have that the ospreys will hopefully find a safe place for their breeding.

But we will see...
