Hyacinth wrote: June 4th, 2019, 8:22 am I didn't see the start of the feeding, so unsure how much the chick was actually fed. Iiris seemed uncertain how to go about it, walking around the nest and trying from different angles.
Mom and baby will both learn.

Jenny, the eggshell on the left of the nest is the one from this chick. I saw Iiris remove it.
Thank you Hyacinth,
I had already thought that it is the shell of the hatched chick. Hopefully, Iiris will quickly learn how to feed such a little beak. At the moment she is still very nervous and many of the small pieces of fish fall into the nest.
Wish you and all the other viewers a beautiful day. :hi:

How lovely to wake up to Mummy's first (so it seems). I am sure she will work out how to feed him during the day. Luckily the little ones do have a little reserve.

Have a good one, everybody

What a scrutinizing look in Iiris's eyes! Is this small chick really mine? :whistling:

Iiris tried to feed the chick with a few bites in the morning but Ivo flew away with the fish shortly after that at 9:17. Has anyone seen Ivo bringing another fish later? :puzzled:

Thank you, dear mogga, for the great video. So nice to witness how the parents admire their offspring. As in all those previous years, we are curious how Iiris masters her mother role. I hope her instinct tells her what to do.

No more fish from Ivo :slap:

I am surprised at experienced daddy Ivo, he knows to keep the pantry stocked.
He could also teach Iiris how to feed the baby :puzzled:

Iiris will not ask for help nor will she ask for fish .. poor little one
She does tear of small bites and that is a good thing but she thinks baby should be able to come to get it :faint:

Iiris is in stress because Ivo doesn't bring fish and she cannot leave the chick and go fishing herself.

Iiris was leaving the nest a few times and the little chick is exposed to the sun. Iiris came back to the nest and calls for Ivo to bring some fish.
Where is the 3rd egg? I only see the chick and the second egg.

IVo's behaviour with Iiris makes me believe that he has another female and another nest running nearby. I fairly well remember that with Irma he was very present and attentive

the third egg is now visible.
Happily Iiris insisted "Irma-style" and Ivo left to go fishing

Let's hope Ivo got the hint.
I'm in stress too together with Iiris.

:hi:
Iiris must learn to be more assertive and demanding like Irma
That seems to be the only language Ivo understands

The chick hasn't got anything to eat for eight hours. It needs the liquid from the fish flesh.

I'm worried too Summi and I hope Ivo comes back soon with a fish. Normally Ivo is very quick to bring some meal for his new born chick. I really don't know where he is.
