POLAND

Summary of the fate of Polish black storks hatched in 2019

Six young black storks equipped with a transmitter successfully overcame their first year of life.
Their wintering areas:
CNIG 04 (Israel), CNIG14 (Senegal), CNIG18, CNIG26 and CNIG 31 (all of them in Ethiopia) and BOCZ05 Chris (Chad)

All six returned from their wintering areas to Europe and spent the summer there.

They all set out for the autumn migration to the south again:
CNIG04 flew to its previous wintering area to Israel, its last location was in the field near the fish pools from January 13, 2021, the transmitter reported the position for several more days, the stork is apparently dead
CNIG14 flew to its previous wintering area to Senegal, last updated on January 28, 2021, the stork has not reported for a month
CNIG18 flew to its previous wintering area to Ethiopia, the transmitter still reports its position from the same place since January 13, 2021), the stork is most likely dead
CNIG26 died in a collision with a power line in Turkey, the remains were found
BOCZ05 Chris - the last location was in the European part of Turkey on September 27, 2020, a team of volunteers was looking for it on the spot, unfortunately without success
CNIG31 - the last location was in Israel, right in the city of Jerusalem on October 17, 2020

From 2017, only one stork is reported - BOCZ07 Žólty

From 2018, none of the storks equipped with a transmitter report

I am curious about the fate of young storks hatched in 2020.
Only four of them report regularly: 5984 (Milicz), 5764 (Miedzychód), 5713 (Mragowo) and CNIG28 (Turek)
Let's keep our fingers crossed for them all.

:hi: Hana, thanx very much :2thumbsup: ( I hoped for this summary also this spring :headroll: )

information, summary (by me) - Aug. 2019
https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... 70#p684370
https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... 65#p684565

Liz: Your summary of the Polish transmitter Storks is similar to the Latvian ones. In the end, only Mare survived. That's very sad. Sad for us and also for the storks. (https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... 91#p684491)

edit:
Hana: CNIG14 flew to its previous wintering area to Senegal, last updated on January 28, 2021, the stork has not reported for a month

- Hana, I believe CNIG 14 sends again to us data like previous year (09.02.2020 the last and the next 15.04. 2020 - after more than two months)
