Yes, it looks like KARL II hardly moved today.
He is still in the same fields as yesterday evening, near Abrit in Bulgaria. It doesn’t look like the best feeding area ever… Why is Karl II staying there? Bad weather? :puzzled:


Oh dear, little UDU flew to Kosovo today! :slap:

It is now becoming unlikely that Udu will find/follow the 'usual' eastern migration route, I fear.
All other options to cross the Mediterranean Sea are far more complicated, difficult and dangerous. Unless Udu will winter in southern Italy, or in Greece?

S/he is currently near the town Mitrovica.

Mitrovica (definite Albanian form: Mitrovicë) or Kosovska Mitrovica (Serbian Cyrillic: Косовска Митровица) is a city and municipality located in Kosovo. Settled on the banks of Ibar and Sitnica rivers, the city is the administrative center of the District of Mitrovica.
In 2013, following the North Kosovo crisis, the Serb-majority municipality of North Mitrovica was created, dividing the city in two administrative units.
According to the 2011 Census, in Mitrovica live 84,235 inhabitants: 71,909 of which in the southern municipality and 12,326 in North Mitrovica.

Pikne - 2971 km (+12 km), stopover area, sent data near Mihail Kogălniceanu in Romania

Udu - 3481 km (+146 km), Udu flew southwards, then westwards and again southwards, sent data from his/her overnight place near Mitrovica in Kosovo :slap:

Thank you very much for the daily updates. I'm reading them every late evening.

I saw in the news that the whole of western Turkey is currently covered with a huge rain part that is still going on, lots of heavy rain, floods, and not moving yet. Maybe that's why neither KARL II nor UDU want to continue in this direction at the moment or avoid ?

Especially for UDU i hope he will get the hang of turning to the east when it's possible.

I'm grateful for all the maps and overviews, thanks again :wave:

S/he is in the Kalinata National Park, not far from the resort "Sunny Beach" at the Black Sea in Nesebar Municipality, Burgas Province, Bulgaria.

Kalinata Protected Area is 10 km west of the resort of Sunny Beach near the village of Tankovo and the village of Kosharitsa, Burgas region.
Longleaf forest, a real oasis, a bunch of preserved centuries-old ash trees, oaks, elms and many bushes. On an area of 960 acres grow tree, shrub and grass species, ornamental and medicinal plants, including 75 plant species, of which 27 ornamental and 19 medicinal. Five of the species are included in the Red Data Book of the Republic of Bulgaria. The most valuable of them is the marsh snowdrop.

It happens sometimes that a data session fails. :nod:
That is no immediate cause for concern.
The most probable explanation is that Udu is somewhere out of GSM coverage.

Hopefully, we will have more information tomorrow.

He flew past Istanbul, and is currently near the Kınık Creek near the small village Kınık.

Kınık is a village in the District of Bilecik, Bilecik Province, Turkey. As of 2010 it had a population of 120 people.

We received data for little UDU ! :headroll:

Udu flew in a south-easterly direction, crossed North Macedonia and is now in northern Greece, west of the village Theodorakio (and south of the village Exaplatanos.)
Theodorakio is located just west of Mount Paiko, Kirros, Greece.

Mount Paiko or Pajak in Bulgarian (Greek: Πάικο| Paiko) is a small mountain range (surface area: 399 km2[3]) that lies on the border of the Pella and Kilkis regional units in Central Macedonia, Greece.

Udu flew 256 km in 2 days.
Battery level: 35%
