In case of quick reaction we can have more information about perish and also it is easier to find before predators and scavengers find the body. Transmitter recovery is also important. At the moment transmitter is exposed to the sun (battery is charging).
Sent message to Adel Shalaby, but he is working in very different issues, as see from article.
Some people can travel along Nile, but difficult to find such ones.

First,..... MR. Urmas is an ornithologist !!!

But, did not we even have a discussion here in forum where it was said that the transmitter probably has nothing to do with bird temperature but that is its own temperature?
I have to admit that in recent times I have never concentrated on temperature.

sorry, in hurry forgot to answer about temperature...
Temperature is measured inside of transmitter, so there is a kind of influence of the birds body temperature (form underneath) and external temperature of air, plus possible heating of direct sun. If measured temperature of transmitter at night is similar to outdoors temperature (what is quite different at night in settlements and open pale areas in desert), that means no additional heating from the body... Can be transmitter lost or the bird.

Yes, a predator (or a dog) could be a possible explanation, Solo
But probably a (large) predator would move the body?
Possibly, feeding - for such a long time - in those awful wastewater pools made our little Maru ill.
It isn't a healthy area. We knew that. Poor Maru.

This is what the ornitrack manual says:
"Skull and crossbones – the transmitter is not moving, possible mortality of the bird."

 This is what is shown on ornitrack:

 Bad luck :slap:

I remember few years ago, there was a article about many storks not coming back from their migration. They didn't understand what might be the reasons. They always suggested "electricity" or lack of food.

Now we know that this area is also a problem.
How can we prevent storks from going there? will technology help?

Solo, excellent research, really great work!!

I really hope that Urmas could come into contact with someone (near Kom Ombo?).
And that someone is on the way to our little Maru.

Next data session expected: 2019-02-26 16:46:21 (UTC+2)
That's 15:46:21 (UTC+1), forum time

(It will take a couple of minutes to make the tracker map.)

I think...

It's important to follow the transmitter, in case someone will take it away from the place

Thanks, Solo.
I hope that someone will soon arrive there.

Maru and/or the transmitter are still in (more or less?) the same place.
Very small movements are seen. But that is possibly due to a minor inaccuracy of the sent coordinates?

I know, they are * small steps * but they are still moving ... they are not dead
