April 19

Good morning

POLAND - BocianiMy Project
http://mapa.bocianimy.pl/

Even this morning, none of the monitored Polish black storks have new data.

In recent days, only CNIG28, hatched in 2020, wintering in Guinea, has been reporting (usually every two days).

The other three storks which were until recently active (hatched in 2020) (Miedzychód - Kenya, Mragowo - Ethiopia and Milicz - Ivory Coast) also fell silent. It is possible that they only changed their wintering areas due to food resources.

The last living stork from 2019 CNIG14 stopped reporting at the end of January (Senegal). I expected that, just like last year, it would be report in early April from the return trip to the north. Unfortunately, this did not happen.

The four-year-old stork Žólty (hatched in 2017) has successfully returned to his native country of Poland and does not appear on the map during the nesting season.

:hi: Hana,
thanx for this overview.
I'm sad how young storks die in the spring (I admit that the 3 can send data any further) and I am especially saddened for the (very probably) death of the last young stork from 2019 - CNIG 14

POLAND

Evening update: CNIG28 TUREK - back in Senegal
Previous info: http://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/view ... 0f#p792064

PL - CNIG28 Turek - hatched in 2020
New data: 20.04. 12:12 Previous data: 16.04. 12:00
SENEGAL – Turek is back in Senegal. On April 18 it headed north and northwest and on April 19 it crossed the borders of Senegal. Its last noon location is right by the Guiers Lake and in the adjacent fields, probably rice fields.

Lac de Guiers (Guiers Lake): It is about 35 kilometers long and 8 kilometers wide and it is a chief source of fresh water for the city of Dakar. It is designated an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International; the key species are lesser flamingo (Phoeniconaias minor), glossy ibis (Plegadis falcinellus), Eurasian spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia), African spoonbill (Platalea alba), white-winged tern (Chlidonias leucopterus) and river prinia (Prinia fluviatilis)

:hi: Solo,
It also immediately occurred to me that Turek was going to travel north, maybe all the way to Europe.
I wish it was luckier, I keep my fingers crossed for it. We will see...

Mare - it seems unusual to me that Mare would not return to her nest. Maybe she was really just waiting for better weather and now she's on the way again and doesn't have a GPS signal.
Thank You for all information, Solo. :2thumbsup:
