The autumn month of migration of cranes (Grus grus) is November. Since the real winter has not come, in the area of the Special Nature Reserve "Slano kopovo", these days there are still about 2000 cranes. They spend the night in the shallow water of the Salt Mine, and feed on the surrounding plots of agricultural land. The area of Salt Mines is our most famous place for gathering and staying of cranes, not only because of the Mines themselves, but also because of the structure of the surrounding landscape with small plots of arable land, salt marshes and live farms, which provides a variety of food throughout autumn and spring.
