Kordian is a male buzzard hatched this year [2015] and was caught about 20 km away from Villu's territory. The exact location of the nest where he hatched is not known. He was named after the Polish colleague Kordian Bartoszuk from AQUILA-IT, who is also a valued member of our forum.

Kordian likes to spend his winters in Poland and during his first autumn migration buzzard Kordian and his namesake Kordian Bartoszuk met. After hunters in a Lithuanian wood prevented a first meeting, buzzard Kordian decided to pay a visit to human Kordian in Biebrza.

Kordian spent a big part of his summer near Jaunanna in Latvia - maybe surveying a future nesting site?

Last data of Kordian are form 29th of August, still in the same area. Actually battery of transmitter is quite empty - probably Kordian is not much flying around, but sitting mainly on trees.

Little remark. Jaunanna is in Latvia. But many people are confusing these two Baltic countries. So it's normal.

Which I sure also do know, after being around the forum for so long ... a moment of being unattentive ...
I have corrected it.

That's a pity. No chance to regain energy?
Is there any possibility to catch him and to change the battery?

He is not far from my home. About 50 km in straight line. Possibly will breed there.

My friend is living in Jaunanna village. It's very close to this area. He will go to check if there is some nest.
