If I remember correct, Dr. M. Strazd says: plus 20 m - Karula moved much more

why: we were worried about the little movement of one of the black storks ("goris project"), minim. is 20m/per day
where - when: :puzzled: (searching function is not working here in LK to me  )

Juta, maybe Liz can help :help:

Good evening to all :hi:

Anne, weather data is available.
Karula had a nice day (weather wise) a bit more wind today.
I really hope she leaves her lake .... as soon as possible.

Thanks for all the cards, reports ... nice pictures of the environment.

Solo, :hi: Karula moved 10km? I can not see it here, but I used birdmap.
I can not remember right now (20m) . But 1km/day is also normal.

we have not data about distance
my question is: how few meter is still O.K. (if I remember correct, Dr. Strazds says plus 20m in one day is the minimum)

Solo, I need only your help. You quoted Anne´s post about Karula with Dr. Strazds citation. So,again, why and when? We are here in this topic.

Anna was worried - maybe: "Karula is still at Lake Eber. At the same place as yesterday. I hope he is OK. :puzzled:" -
Dr. Strazds's minimum daily distance is reassuring (I believe)

A little clarification. 8-)
When I wrote "I hope Karula is OK", I obviously did not mean that I doubt whether Karula is still alive.
When a bird perishes, it is very clear on Ornitella (on the graph of the X, Y and Z accelerometers » flat lines).
Karula's graphs are perfectly normal.
It is clear that Karula is moving. Also on the tracker map.

I believe that this "20-meter limit" is the margin of error of the (transmitted) coordinates.
If a bird stays within a circle of 20-30 m (on the map) for a longer period of time, it could indicate that the bird is no longer moving.
This is not the case with Karula!

My concern with regard to Karula is that he apparently continues to catch fish at the same location, in a lake where the water pollution is so important and the water level so low that fish die and float on the surface ... (according to Turkish news reports)
If Karula stays in the same place for so long, it may well be that the concentration of dying or dead fish is very high over there.
Very easy to catch but probably (very) unhealthy prey.

Already here I wrote: "I hope the food is not too filthy ..."
viewtopic.php?p=694003#p694003

About moving little distances I wrote this:
"What reassures me a bit is that we have seen the same behaviour from Karula, many times.
It happened in Israel, but also at Emre Lake, and on the Porsuk River near Nuhören.
Suddenly he hardly flew, for several days, for some unknown reason.
Every time I really started to worry, Karula started flying normal distances again."
:2thumbsup:

And surely Aru will turn to South soon.
