Yes, Karula fished in that pond for a long time yesterday!
He was there between 15:21 and 17:51.
At 18:36 he returned to the pond and was still there while sending data at 19:00.

The pond is located in the Nahal Snir Nature Preserve.

That place is very close to the Israel National Trail.
The Israel National Trail, is a hiking path that was inaugurated in 1995. The trail crosses the entire country of Israel. Its northern end is at Dan, near the Lebanese border in the far north of the country, and it extends to Eilat at the southernmost tip of Israel on the Red Sea, a length of 1015 km.

Thanks a lot, Jo!

Today, our Karula travelled 135 km south... and is back home. :D

He took off around 09:50
At 11:38, Karula flew west of the Sea of Galilee

Image

At 13:53 he was already in the Jordan River Valley near Tal Al-Mantah. :2thumbsup:
(I think he must have been homesick and could not wait to get into his familiar environment. )

I've made a map of Karula's entire journey, starting on 28.03.2020, when he left the Tal Al-Mantah area, until he returned today 21.10.2020

He has been 'on the road' for 207 days (6 months and 23 days) and explored many countries.
He is a nearly adult young stork now!

His journey was pretty impressive!

Karula, you are a remarkable Black Stork! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Enjoy your winter holidays. I hope everything is fine there in the Jordan River Valley.

Thanks a lot, Jo, Anne and Sova, for the trackermap, lots of pictures and the weather data!
Yesterday Karula was at a really nice place; the little pond looked so promising. Like Sova, I had not expected Karula to fly further south so quickly. Last autumn - if I remember right - he has spent quite a while in the northern region.
So early this morning Karula took off! He must have a strong bond with the southern region. No wonder, - I think he spent most of his life here, in the Jordan River Valley near Tal Al-Mantah. Here he knows every square kilometer.
I'm very happy for him. He's at home! :D :2thumbsup:

Karula, I wish you a very good time in Israel! Be lucky!

All pictures have a view to north.

October 22nd

Hello everyone :hi:

Michi, Hellem, thanks!

We still haven't received any new birdmap data for Karl II. He may be far away from Adindan by now and is possibly out of network coverage. If so, we won't know where he spends the winter.

BIRDMAP OVERVIEW

KARULA
• Previous data: 16.10.2020, distance 4018 km (+ 13 km in 1 day), near Akarsu, Tarsus district, Mersin Province in Turkey.
• New data: 21.10.2020, distance 4746 km (+ 728 km in 5 days), near Tal Al-Mantah in the Jordan River Valley, Israel

KARL II
• Previous data: 19.10.2020, distance: 5942 km km (+889 km in 3 days), near Adindan, Al Ballanah wastewater ponds, in Egypt.
• NO NEW data.

EEDI
• Previous data: 16.10.2020, distance 7822 km (+240 km in 7 days), southeast of Al Namas in Saudi Arabia
• NO NEW data.

TIMMU
• Previous data: 15.10.2020, distance 7106 km (+15 km in 1 day), still near Metema, on the Atbarah River (tributaries) in Ethiopia.
• NEW data: 21.10.2020, distance 7181 km (+75 km in 6 days), still near Metema, on the Atbarah River (tributaries) in Ethiopia.

VEDRU
• Previous data: 19.10.2020, distance 3202 km (+508 km in 3 days), a little north of Kavakköy, near the Kavakköy River, in Turkey. He is close to both the Aegean Sea at the west and the Marmara Sea at the south.
• NEW data: 21.10.2020, distance 3227 km (+25 km in 2 days), same area, a little north of Kavakköy, near the Kavakköy River, in Turkey. He is close to both the Aegean Sea at the west and the Marmara Sea at the south.

AUDA
• Previous data: 05.10.2020, distance 6903 km (+244 km in 1 day), near Am Ouch, in the Ouaddaï region in Chad.
• NO NEW data. (Probably Auda's transmitter has no network coverage)

I won't be home this evening to document Karula's tracker map. (I suspect he won't fly far.) I'll catch up on work tomorrow.

Have a nice day!

Jo, :hi: I hope I didn't cause this problem. :puzzled:
On 21.10, I made a map of Karula's entire journey without data points...
(I retrieved less data for it)
This morning, I checked the OrniTrack website, and all looks normal, at least on my computer. It should work as usual, I hope.
