Tonight, Karula sleeps not far from Kalaat Moudik in Syria.
Or Qalaat al-Madiq.

Are these opium poppies? :puzzled:

Michi, maybe tomorrow Karula will already be in Turkey.
He is the most clever storklet I ever met. :D

I cross my fingers.

That would be great, Anne; a big relief.
If nothing and no one will disturb our Karula, he/she can manage the challanges very well. Until now she has shown it in an impressive way. Karula is indeed a smart storklet, - our youngest. :D

Unfortunately I can't say if those flowers are opium poppies.

Good night, everyone!

Good and safe journey, little Karula. Maybe you are one of the juvies, who visit their home land in the second calendar year. I'm curious where you will spend the summer

Summi, you can leave the black hole!

At 12:30:35 (UTC+3), he was in Turkey.
He crossed the Gulf of Iskenderun in less than an hour.
At his last known position, near Elmagölü in Turkey, Karula is still flying at a speed of 64 km/h 8-)

Thank you, Liz! I‘ve read it now. So it was the same region, where Mares transmitter was silent. Good, to know that.

Have a nice evening, all!

:hi: everyone

Michi, I am very relieved too that Karula left Syria behind him. Or behind her. I think it's a HE. :D

Liz, just a little guess: maybe Karula will fly to his favourite place in Ukraine. :D

Here is Karula's map for the entire day.

Sova, what a huge amount of work you did!
You definitely deserve a break... und ein kleiner Schnaps. (Oder ein Obstler?)

OK, I will do the summaries now.

Thanks a lot, Anne, for the new update and the maps and picture!
So Karula has moved on a little bit in Turkey.
Hopefully she has found a good and safe place for the night.

BTW, I call Karula as a „she“, but have no argument for that. I admit, once I saw a picture from Karula (in the nest), where she/he stood so proud and also strong, that I thought it must be a male. But nevertheless I call her like a female.

Good night, everyone!

Edit:
Sova :hi: Many thanks for the lot of work, you‘ve done! :2thumbsup:

It is such a great relief to know that Karula arrived safely in Turkey. Thank you all for your work.

We don't know whether it is HE or SHE. Are there still no results of the DNA test from last year? :shake:

Hello Aquiline,
quite a while ago Jo UK told us that the results are still not available. I think they will tell us if the results are present.
