Svēte Reservoir (The locals call this place Uzplūdumu) is an artificial water reservoir in the north-western part of Ugāle Parish, Ventspils Region. In spring 1940, the construction of the Svēte reservoir was started by the Ugāle Forestry Department for floating trees to Ventspils. Svēte reservoir was created by closing the Svēte river valley with a 173 m long and 6 m high earth dam, which was created from a 6110 cubic meters large sand gravel burial with a clay core in the middle. To reduce the filtration of water, an 86.4 m long corrugated wall was driven into the clay core. A 20 m long lockable culvert with a diameter of 80 cm is built into the dam to drain unused water. The maximum area of the Svēte reservoir is 60 ha, but 45 ha at a normal level. The construction of the Svēte reservoir was completed in the summer of 1943.
Bottom - stumpy, little mud, in places - muddy. Shores - sloping and steep. The cross-sectional area of the dam is 2.5 m, the internal slope is 2: 1, the outer is 1: 1.5.
