UDU is o.k. :loveshower:

21.10.2021, distance 4856 km, +119 km in 1 day. Karl II flew southwards along the Jordan River valley but returned to Tirat Zvi, Israel
I'm very worried about Karl ... was he really coming back? where is he now ?? :faint:
Last year 24.10. was already in Sudan. ..

Thank you, Sova!

The coverage looks very limited, or am I mistaken? :puzzled:
Or, in other words, in many locations there seems to be no GSM coverage...

Yes, you are right, Sova.
In previous years we didn't have so many problems in Egypt.
Not that often, at least... :puzzled:

Edit:
But for example in the eastern desert (Arabian Desert) in Egypt, GSM coverage has always been very bad. Remember Vedru...
Only in the area along the Nile and on the coasts (i.e. where people live) we had good reception.
If I remember well.

EDIT:
None of the 3 Karula storks sent new data today! :slap:

I don't know, Sova.
But one thing's for sure... tracking migratory birds is not a relaxing recreation...

Udu is also in Egypt?? :puzzled:
Bigfan

From Vainia (Ierapetra) the shortest distance (in a perfectly straight line straight south) towards the Egyptian coast, is about 375 km.
If Udu started the crossing today, he would have had a strong tail wind of about 40 km/h. With that much wind he may have had an average speed of let's say 50 km/h (at least?) :puzzled:
Birds don't fly in perfectly straight lines, so let's assume he would have at least 400 km to fly. That is possible in 8 hours at 50 km/h!
If he took off around 10:00-11:00, he could have reached the Egyptian coast by 18:00-19:00.
That would be very fast!

This is all pure speculation of course... 8-)
Maybe Udu is just out of GSM coverage somewhere on Crete.
We know nothing.

Hello all!

It is not possible that we have lost all our storks at once.
I really hope there is something with connections and whatsoever.
I hope so much!

We'll see when little Katrin arrives in this area. If it also disappears, we can hope that the problem is in data transfer. . :gathering:
