Anne7,
probably not enough food - too much moving seems to me that :puzzled: (I hope I am wrong )

No, Solo, in that case I got the impression, that Maru does find enough food ! A lot of food.
Otherwise she/he would fly on to new, farther places.
greetings from Baska

Anne, I could, as before, take care of the basics and you push the intricacies behind, you have the appropriate tools, the know-how
We will see who else is involved! A discussion on migration could be conducted here?

I'm very sorry, baska, I should have replied to your post!
I suppose I was a bit overwhelmed (and also a bit emotional  ) with the sudden appearance of Karl and Karula on birdmap, so I forgot.
I do not know if there is much food in the area where Maru stays, but I agree with you that Maru probably finds something to eat there, otherwise he would not spend so much time in that area.

It is a mini nature reserve (Vilkijos hidrografinis draustinis), as Solo already mentioned, so the water must be clean and host many edible creatures.
The size is 0.64 km²(= 640000 square meters)
"... A part of the territory of the protected area (from the village Bandoriai to the Republic of Latvia) is included in the list of NATURA 2000 sites for the conservation of natural habitats.
... The river is fed by surface groundwater. Larger areas of natural meadows are located near the river's wings. ... The otter (Lutra lutra) lives permanently in the reserve. ..."

If there are otters, there must be fish!
The nature reserve (green) and Maru's latest position (red):

Maru's position: a little update (a few hundreds of meters) yesterday evening.

Hi Solo!
I agree, Solo, it would be very nice if many members would participate in this topic!
We can not expect that you do all the work!
Nevertheless, your expertise is always very welcome, Solo! Thanks a lot for it!

Yes Anne! And I also like the beautiful panoramic shots of Solo great, she could add some from time to time, if possible.
Such a cooperation leads us forward :D

Last GPS data of Päike (7161) are from yesterday early morning, no more transmissions (due the weak GSM network most probably). We need to wait. Yesterday morning Päike was some 6 km of nest westward near some stream through bog.
