Good morning all together :hi:
TY so much again for your reports, your considerations, pictures. All together a lot of work.

KARULA again : I just want to tell something about the fish ponds in Israel.
We are always thinking of the nets above the fish ponds, implicating the danger for the birds. As far as I know, we always rely on the experiences of Carsten Rohde.
But that was seven years ago ! A lot of things must have changed in the meantime.
Carsten Rohde mainly kept telling that the mesh size was everywhere too wide and therefore too dangerous. So he suggested to have a mesh size not more than 3 cm.

He found friends, ornithologists and natur organizations who did help him and carried on when he wasn't in Israel anymore.

We can assume, that lot of things improved and Liz discovered this report of Kibbutz Reshafim, where we can read, that there they don't use nets.

Last not least this photographer Tzvia Shahar Moskowitz answered now to my questions. At least in her region and south Haifa there are hardly no fish ponds anymore. On the map they look still like fish ponds but many fish growers have decided to stop raising fish because they do not stand in competition with the chinese growers !
Hence, there are no fish nets anymore.

A new picture of her

Good evening together,
I want to say a big thank you to all for todays updates, beautiful pictures from young storks and others, tracker maps and all the interesting informations! :2thumbsup:
I'm glad Maru has left her last area; although her last location in the tracker map seems to be doubtful. I really hope she will find her way.

Karula has moved on to south?! It's a little bit surprising. So she most likely doesn't want to spend the winter in Israel. Probably her instinct tells her to move further south - to Africa.
I think Karula is a clever girl who knows what she finally has to do.

Good luck on your way, Karula! :2thumbsup:
