Good afternoon,
and thanks for all the pictures and news etc. !

Hooray, our little Karula has flown more than 10 000 km since he left the nest in Karula National Park!
Post by sova » August 14th, 2019, 12:40 pm
Wow Karula !!! that's a proud number of kilometers.
Our dear Karula has been flying nicely all the time, we can be happy and proud of his survival of his long flights from the Karula forest to Israel and Turkey. He is still flying fine, almost artistic patterns, and apparently Oru is already practicing to do the same. Hope Aru can fly soon too! Gorgeous birds all three, and of course Eedi too!
(It's a pity, that Karl II and Kati do not have a transmitters.)

...I have one more question; what can we expect next year? Is Karula flying back to the north (at home)?
Mare, hatched 2016 (Latvija)
2017 summer: in Romania
2018 summer: flew to wider home area, but stayed not, flew to Poland
2019 summer: she is nesting in Russia (between Lithuanaia and Poland)
(all 3 winter in Ethiopia, same area)
Solo, just for you, thanks for this list! :)
Have a nice day all!
EDIT: New name of this chain sounds very good and appropriate!

Thank you,
Sova!
I will put that birdmap update in yesterday's summary.
Thanks,
Juta!
KARULA is still at the same brook near Nuhören.
At 16:12:46 (UTC+3), the battery level of his transmitter was only
59% (3905 mV)
Karula didn't move a lot today, just like yesterday.

Little
ORU is travelling fast and straight southwards!
He crossed the border at the Čepkelių Valstybinis Gamtinis Rezervatas.
A nice video (with also a black stork!) of that reserve:

His latest known location, near Werdomicze Bëcka, in Belarus.

Yes, maybe.
I still have to make the summary and have not viewed your weather reports so far.
I'll look at it immediately.
Edit: I looked at it, and it rained all day at Nuhören!
That explains why Karula hardly moved and why the battery was not charged. But it is still striking that the battery drains so quickly.

Yes, Oru is in Poland now.
Oru's settings give us data every 10 minutes. And there is another data session in about 2 hours or less.
