Summi and everyone! Me too. Someone is cutting onions nearby.
My eyes...

We worried so much for little Aru, our problem child.

Why did Oru fly to Poland???
Dear Anne, because there, where he is now, is a wonderful region beloved by many storks !

And Aru left for migration ? :loveshower: That is so wonderful and releasing! I wish him all the best of the world !
Thank you, Juta, for these news and thank you, Summi, for the touching words !

Have all a nice day !
greetings from Baska

There was a morning birmap update for ORU.
The same location and the same distance as yesterday evening.

Last birdmap data: 17.08.2019
Distance: 838 km
Does that mean that Oru has not flown since yesterday ?!

Oru is waiting for Aru, so Aru is flying so much now :loveshower: ;)

And thanks to everyone who works so hard with pictures, data and information

I sometimes hear something at the nest and look immediately :rotf:
Maybe I should turn off the camera

Bibibu, if you leave the camera on you are likely to see who visits the nest, now that it is empty! Probably no more black storks, but other visitors.

Dear Aru, may you find the most favourable thermals in the whole world to carry you and heal the wounds.
Our love will follow you through the transmitter you wear and we will also keep Oru, your dear mom Kati and perfect dad Karl II in our loving hearts. We don't forget your little siblings who are not with us any longer. God bless you.
Thank you very much, Summi. :D

It is so good to see that Aru is flying so well. :loveshower: Perhaps we were worrying too much? Of course the feathers are damaged, but perhaps the discolouration looked worse than it was since Aru could not "wash" his feathers?

Interestingly, Oru and Aru line up evenly along the stream of oncoming warm wind coming from Slovakia.

We can train it in little steps - 1st day 1 hour camera off, 2nd day 2 hours camera off, 3rd day... - and in some cases of emergency you will find e.g. still an osprey in the nest or a fish in the fishcam

I clicked on the link and, my! What an interesting meteorological site!
It shows all of the air currents over Europe, in real time.
Fascinating....

Thank you so much, Poliff, for sharing!
It really helps to explain the travel choices of the Black storklets.

Agreed, visit!
One funny thing hint, the season is full blown in Australia...
Chicks have fledged in Europe, but down south everything is just beginning!
Eaglets have hatched and are being fed. :rotf:
