In Denmark, meanwhile, the resident male and the new female arrived at the same time today at 19:09.
He gave her booty and she stayed a little longer. So far it has seldom been seen or only briefly. It is unclear whether she will stay.
The resident female is missing. She didn't come back ....

Mamicja, yesterday and today without sound again.

Indeed  , she must have lost it. :rotf:

09:10 The egg is incubated. :innocent:

I just checked it yesterday ... nothing.
For me unexpected but great news! There was so little activity that I didn't believe it anymore - not so quickly, anyway.

Eagle Owl, Denmark

As in the Eifel with Lotte and Teo, the female calls for her partner.
She apparently has brood feathers next to her?

Image

She becomes impatient, leaves the nest and looks and listens, flies away.

Image

18:55
Shortly afterwards the male comes. I think it's him because her croak can be heard nearby.
18:57 After looking at the nest and gurgling, it flew away.
18:59 The female is back.

Good timing. :innocent:

Bonnie has to keep lifting herself up to make way for the scramble under her.

The chicks are 12 days old today. :innocent:

Bonnie in the evening light :innocent:
(Unfortunately the camera has a falsified light, too much yellow?)
She is calling.

:D

Bonnie gets ready ...
A chick shows up.

She's gone over half an hour. Meanwhile, the camera switched to night mode when Bonnie comes back with a mouse for her chicks.
Image

I was a little worried because only one of the chicks was very interested. It immediately started pecking at the mouse. In fact, both are active.

Number two is better seen here.

Eagle Owl, Denmark

At 14:45 the female left the nest and has not returned so far :puzzled:
Moments before departure, she looked upset.
Image

Perhaps someone had scared her off, or perhaps she was scared by the landslide of the gravel.
Image

The camera was moving around in the gravel pit, but she was nowhere to be seen.

Good Morning :hi:

It's a strange situation.
I hope that the search for the couple will bring new insights. I felt that this couple was not very close to each other.

Bea, you've been watching eagle owls for a long time :innocent: - what is your feeling? The female too young, too inexperienced?

Both could be heard in the night. It was initially assumed that they were at least alive. Now it was written that the couple might have "happened"? Happening in the sense of an accident or something similar?

Sorry, I am not observing this nest close enough to judge this ... I think Mamicja is watching it much closer and is the better contact person for such questions :book:
