Lubaska, thanks for the great story pictures of the Reece Owls! They are adorable! I love the close up pictures and when the camera is zoomed in. I think that I got spoiled watching the Click, OKC Owls, with the cam showing great close ups of the owl family! Your pictures are just as beautiful!

You are welcome, Mamicja, you are welcome girls - Biker, Cessie, Romy.
I have just watched this video with a fall of DRI owlet... and the only thought I have in my head is that I can observe a decision of experts, cam owners, enviro-managers etc. not to intervene, but I am not at peace with it.
We could see at Shadow Ridge school that they ve had an experience that all designs made of concrete are slippy so they put a net around pillar. The balcony with DRI nest has plain concrete walls and we all know that no bird from this family can cling on concrete. Compare this material with a bark of John Reese tree! Those owlets walk on almost vertical climb without any problems.
I would take this fallen birdie and put him back to the nest, for sure...

By the way...
there are some tragic events at California SVN Barn owls nest, but I cant share any details with you. Because of I dont know details ... only heard about fatal end of youngest Hope.
I have watched the nest but finished to do this when parents reduced/stopped to bring enough food there last week. It reminded me my last season (painful) watching of Teco&Lotte nest. I was told today that the youngest one (our liebling and a big fighter, of course) has lost its fight for his life.
This Barn owls strategy is unwatchable for me due to fatal cases that follow. The shortage of food which has to lead the owlets to fledge the nest boxes as soon as possible and parallel slow starving of the youngest/weakest chicks.
Oh, why do so lovely creatures have such an awful strategy?
P.S. SVN Barn owls can be find on youtube online channel.

... indeed, maybe i should watch more owls. from time to time i do. had some peeking in here: DRI Owl Cam, Reno, when the two owl ladies were still a bit undecided how to manage their "family".
for me it looked good for the little ones from the beginning, but i watched with my "owl unexperienced" eyes.
(these two videos together almost 10 minutes: 14th april)

Two treeclimbers at John Reese GHO nest, USA
These pictures are from yesterday.
Both owlets mastered their climbing skills and jumping over nest cavity. They enjoyed it and later went back to the nest for their daily rest.
