Uhu Webcam (Germany, Eifel) ~2016

Post by Bea »

We are watching here an Eagle Owl cam in Germany, Eifel, valley of river "Ahr"
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eifel
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eifel

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahrtal
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahr_Valley

The nest is on a ledge, in the valley of river "Ahr".
Name of female Eagle Owl is "Lotte" (no ring) and male is called "Leo" (ring left leg).
Leo is her mate now for the second year, the years before the established male was "Heinzl" (ring right leg).

Major events 2016

7. April --- Lotte spotted sitting on eggs viewtopic.php?p=452145#p452145

13. April --- Three eggs were spotted viewtopic.php?p=454285#p454285

25. April --- First and second owlet hatched viewtopic.php?p=458939#p458939

2. May --- We spotted the third owlet viewtopic.php?p=459604#p459604

13. May --- Smallest owlet didn´t make it viewtopic.php?p=465893#p465893

15. May --- Only one owlet left viewtopic.php?p=466580#p466580

Leo tried to feed the last owlet viewtopic.php?p=466580#p466580

23. May --- Additional feeding starts viewtopic.php?p=469772#p469772

30. May --- Owlet gets its ring viewtopic.php?p=472090#p472090

3. June --- Owlet was moved to the upper nestplace viewtopic.php?p=473169#p473169

It is difficult to define a correct date about our owlet fledging - it spent a lot of time in a bush over the upper nestplace and on higher points on the ledge, so it is hard to say when it made its maiden flight .... see also romy´s summary in the post below.

Leo was here in the morning - and it was not only a short visit :headroll:

He came in at 07:17, Lotte must have been close, she can be heard calling hoarse

Leo stayed more or less on the same place until 07:39, then he walked to the nestbowl and there was some action - and zoom :D
Maybe Lotte came closer or back, so that Leo wanted to show her his good skills as an apartement manager ;)

He stayed until 07:54

Zoom on his ring, perhaps the mystery about his exact year of birth is still unsolved
