I have seen both Eha and Koit on the nest last night, 10pm AZ time. Didn't get a picture but will try next time.

I have had the winter and spring of Blackbirds "as friends". Will be about three times a day to get food (raisins). Yes, they identify the small stuff. My "Osku" is a young male with a white spot on the back of the neck. Came just a few days ago to sing and lurittelemaan me about 30 cm away from me. At the time, I pointed out that he has a mustache. They are about 1.5 cm - 2 cm long, and I have not seen pictures like that. I have the whole winter and spring fed him, and called softly, "Come, come ...." Now sing on that edge of the forest, "come on, come on, tilulilei". This is really just a lot of fun. I hope that others too have the same experience.

There are two osprey on the nest! One looks banded. Anyone recognize them?

Not see him(her) for a long time... His(her) record of osprey is such funny, intersting.

If I write here about our birds, I also want to say a word about meierlein. Without saying a word against the admins. Knowing nothing about the case. But:

I like to read more posts and comments from meierlein. She/he? is such a likeable writer with a lot engagement for the theme and a lot of humor

Having watched the last picture from Donna in 2008(the one where she marked the nest after Mid and Little flew away) I thought that it could be not Donna but Toomas-the-First. The stork was large enough, he did not clean or repair the nest, just stood there, marked the nest(exactly like Toomas did it next timed) and flew away. He behad like a visitor of the nest and not the owner.

At this very quiet time of year it seems a good idea to go in search of some fun to keep us occupied.
Fortunately, Macdoum sent me this picture!

Some time this month, the Linda-Sulev camera will be replaced, so we can see autumn activities at the Saunja nest.

Yesterday a terrible thing happened. Young ducks in our pond somehow attacked and pecked to death one of the drakes.

Sounds frightful asteria. Sorry you had to witness that. Nature can be awful.

I knew that ducks may be very aggressive and chase away the ones they don't like(especially moms with ducklings when they defend their kids) but I didn't know they kill other ducks.
