14:50 A sad picture.
Emoyeni and her baby are wet. It is raining...
The Chick sits between the feet of Mom, put her head under her plumage.

(Sorry, I can not provide Pic, because busy in work.)

Good Morning, October 21

It seems the weather is still rainy, currently 14°C.
It seems also to me, the baby is grown.

Emoyeni's dress looks somewhat unfavorable.

Today there was a lot of rain again.
Currently a thunderstorm.
New food is also arrived, Thulane brought it.
Now it is dark and Emoyeni and her chick must continue take the rain.
The baby under mum's plumage.

Emoyeni today often had her "Umbrella" spread out for the protection of the chick.
Image

But the feeding was not forgotten, the chick received several meals.
In the afternoon it rained not for a while. Emoyeni ventilated her gorgeous plumage and also left the nest for a while.

Daddy Thulane today also fed the baby.
It's so funny to see that. As he gives a special effort.
He gives his baby just always very small bites (Chick should not even swallowed),
and looks very worried.

Image Image

But baby would have been right sized pieces ...
and grabs a big bite: Image

Then: Emoyeni comes back to the nest.
Thulane just cut the last remnants of the old prey.

A loving, remarkable scene: Dad tried Mom to feed! :rotf: Image

The reaction: (we humans would interpret) Mom: "Let this nonsense!"

Dad flies off ... Image

And now :offtobed: Good Night all

Thanks a lot for the pictures and the reports of the last few days. It's great to see the little one is growing well and had enough food. It's also nice to see mum protect her chick against the rain as good as she can.

Emoyeni could leave the nest a few times and their plumage looks again top made.
It has been today delivered no fresh food, but the chick got enough to eat.

Good Morning, October 23

A very busy morning!
Emoyeni is always on the move since 5:30.
Put old bones out of the nest, brings green stuff.
The chick is still sleepy. (The white ball in nest) Image

Then, at 7:30, Emoyeni delivers huge food.

Emoyenis chick has developed magnificently. :shake:
There was enough to eat today.
The nest is now full of green stuff.Image

This evening picks the baby her Mom several times vigorously in the beak.
Was that just for fun, or hunger, or did not want it bedtime?
I think it was cockiness, the Eaglet will increasingly curious and enterprising.
It looks interesting its environment. Observed that moves outside of the nest.

It occurs to me in the evening there are many loving moments between Emoyeni and her Eaglet watching.
Again and again one discovers something new.
Indescribable! One has to seeing. :loveshower:

How the eaglet has grown! Right now I don't have much time during the day to have a look, so it's nice to see on your shared pictures how well it is developing.

I've had a very busy time at work, so no chance to steal a glance at the camera. I hope next week will be better again. In the evening usually the eaglet sleeps already.

Valerie Gargett has written a book about the Black Eagle: http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Black-Eagle ... 2C+valerie

Which is surely interesting, but also quite expensive, in Germany even used ones start at € 90 ...
