18 Explores "Upstairs" 3 Times & E17 Flies The Pasture Twice 04-20-21
E17 flew early to perch in a front drive side snag returning to the attic with a great landing. The next flight was over to the west pasture and back around the pasture snags before landing in the soft branches at the top of the nest tree. Such a skilled flyer already after their first flight six days ago. E17 confidently branched to new branches today "upstairs" from the nest. E18 walked flew and hopped along branches new to them with confidence. The E's are 87 days old today.

E18 Fledges To The OCT At 8:52 AM 04-21-21
E18 'stepped' off an outer branch and fledged this morning at 8:52 AM. E18 was more than ready for that first flight and landed in the OCT (old cam tree). Even with soaking wet feathers, E18 flew strong and determined. There was flapping of wings by both fledglings - E17 was perched in a snag nearby.E18 looked back at the nest tree with a satisfied gleam in their eye! Way to go, E18!

A Morning Of Escapades: Hide-n-Seek, Tree Climbing & Upside Down 04-22-21
A quiet morning came alive with flights by E17 to the OCT (old cam tree), pasture snag, cam 2 tree, DSPS (drive side pond snag) and CSPS (church side pond snag) while E18 winged and danced in the nest tree branches. The real adventures began as E18 flew to the OCT and E17 sought them out and perched there too. E17 flew back to the nest tree but E18 missed the landing with a crow chasing them. E18 continued around and ended up grabbing at vines on the OCT trunk, turning upside down as the crows continued to harass E18. E18 pulled themselves back upright and launched off the trunk, flying to a low branch on a front pine. Good job, E18! E18 next flew low through the pasture and perched low on the strangler fig remains. From there, E18 flew toward the west pasture and up and around to a front pine. Good job, E18! E17 sought E18 out again while perched there but E17 did not land on the pine and returned to the nest tree. The E's are 89 days old today.

E18 went again to the pond at about 12:20 - it is excited of the new element  And finds things to play with there, too!
I look forward to Lady Hawk's video collage of E18's joy in the water. :2thumbsup:
