Feb 1st
the first eagle was spotted on a tree top already before 8 am and a young unringed eagle landed at 8.06.

a quarter to 5pm eagle love songs were heard but not from near. at 17.19 one young eagle landed for a while but then it left.

on the whole no eagles were identified on Feb 1st.

the other (on the right) seemed to have rings, but it was still too dark to see what they said.

Renno went for a week away, so brought nearly 150kg of frozen fish (baltic herring and sprat). Those should be better to take for eagles and other guests.

Last night I put there frozen Baltic sprats (Sprattus sprattus balticus) and Baltic herrings (Clupea harengus membras). Here is very cold period now, also in most of Europe, and hopefully eagles and others can dismantle this food better - these fishes are smaller and easier to eat. Few bigger fishes around there are mostly crucian (Carassius gibelio) but also roach (Rutilus rutilus) and white bream (Blicca bjoerkna).

Red or pink stuff is frozen meat but it is stone-hard. Here was today night coldest night this winter -26 C, today night will be probably colder and weather forecast predicts for East-Estonia up to - 37 C. This is very cold weather even for Estonia... Since Monday-Tuesday it will be little softer, up to -20 C.

i wonder what this camera-operator will find next.
there is a bright something in the left side of the sky (unless that was the planet we were watching).

[quote="unpAt the longitude of Nõva, shadows are supposed to point north at noon plus about 25 minutes.

So north would seem to be slightly right of the solitary tree on the small island as the cam sees it.[/quote]

i was puzzled about this: is there a new massive lot on the feeding? but no: Urmas wrote this a week ago (Feb 4th at 21.27) here: viewtopic.php?p=126431#p126431
a huge amount of fish appeared on the ground in the cover of darkness late in the evening on Feb 3rd.... of course attentive forumers were there to observe this.
