at 12.26 venegor was the first to capture a great tit (Parus major), a male with a large black area under the belly between the legs.

Jan 10th
there were no new bird species seen on this day so i'll only list the ones that were photographed.
  • great tit at 6.41, 9.33, 13.12, and 15.05
    buzzard 11.35
    jay 12.45
Jan 11th
the same applies for this day: no new visitors were seen. a great tit visited at 9.03.
later it began to rain hard and the feeding ground turned to a lake. viewtopic.php?p=122903#p122903

a buzzard spent more time eating fish in the rain, getting more and more soaked. the buzzard pictures begin here: viewtopic.php?p=122911#p122911
before taking ooff the buzzard said "Good bye!".

Jan 12th, Jan 13th and Jan 14th
went by without any special events.

Jan 15th
the day began with a visit by the blond dog at 8.01. (it looked to me like the same dog as on the 8th)
Lake Nova had frozen during the night.
Fleur wrote:8:01 A dog comes to eat something on the right
it was still a bit dark so some people thought that there was also a deer in this video. opinions were numerous both for and against this hypothesis. i think the question remained open in the end. :D

food was brought at 9.44.

at about 10.15 an eagle call was heard and quite soon the first eagle of the season was also seen on a pine top: an adult eagle.
Felis silvestris wrote:Image
this eagle flew off at 11.03 without landing or showing its ankles. Urmas commented this bird right away.

at 15.17 an adult eagle (with still some dark in the tip of the tail) with rings landed on the ground.
Rionn wrote:The eagle came down :loveshower: , took a fish and flew away

it soon returned and it's rings were photographed. on the right leg the Estonian colours blue on top of white, and on the left a little unclear A4 on white on top of 79 on red. white on red means year 2008.
Felis silvestris wrote:Image
the ringed eagle got company: an unringed eagle landed, too, and began to eat fish together with the ringed bird.

renno wrote:Winter have been warm and this winter it took some time until first eagles arrived. Lake is now well frozen and WTEs can come on the ice to eat.

Today´s bird with white-red ring no A479 (..79 was clearly seen) was ringed in 2008 in Vormsi island, about 30 km SW from the feeding ground.
(they walked about so easily close to each other so that i assume it might have been an engaged couple.)

Fireblade captured the first eagle on a tree top at 9.06. it was far but it seemed to have a (at least mostly) white tail and (at least mostly) yellow beak.

at 14.29 an adult eagle was sitting on the tree top. unfortunately it was far and rather well hidden.
ame wrote:... and a buzzard calls there, too.
later at 15.13 a juvenile eagle was spotted on another treetop.
ame wrote:eagle #1 is sitting on a treetop behind Long Island. i think this one has a perfectly white tip of the tail. ....
and there's another eagle on the treetop on the Grove! this one has some dark colour on its beak so this is still juvenile.
Image
this juvenile left at 15.22.

the total count of eagles on Jan 16th was one adult and one juvenile eagle.

there were altogether 5 eagles in the camera view at the same time: one young bird on the ground and two young birds and two adults in the pine tree. in the tree from left to right: young, adult, young and the other adult on the rightmost tip of the tree. the adults sang a song there.

an eagle call was heard at 8.40 and at 8.54 a ringless adult eagle landed on the ground. it was soon followed by a young eagle who didn't have rings either. the adult left when the youngster arrived.

near 11.25 the picture was gone again but the picture returned at about 12.10. at 12.34 the Punker with the horseshoe was back on the ground.
