19:00 two ravens were eating...


two minutes later only one. ...and 19:10 none.

20:43 two raccoon dogs were running about.

March 18 2013

In the early morning one young eagle was seen in a tree in the far end of the meadow. In late afternoon few eagle calls were heard.

There seems to be an eagle in the nearest pine besides corvids on the ground.

7:18 a young eagle eating. no rings.

a Spotty Penguine in a pine in the near end of Long Island.

8:30 Penguine was down again eating some fish. ... frost around the eyes.


[8:51] it is back in the pine again.

Spotty Penguine lands to eat every now and then....

March 19 2013

... today Baltic Sea in NW Estonia got ice free thanks to the wind from the east - ice was blown to further waters. There were lots of waterfowls and also some eagles. Probably due to ice-free waters there was only one WTE on our feeder.

Only one young eagle was eating alone with corvids for a long time in the morning. It wore no rings.

[5:53] the ground is still empty, no birds... the winds sounds hard.

6:02 raven voices... they are flying around..


6:05 first ravens land

6: 42 not many ravens (2 here) but what a beautiful morning!


today is Vernal Equinox so from today onwards we'll be on the summer side of the year. the precise time will be 11:02 UTC which is 13:02 EET (local time).

12:13 a young eagle was in a pine on Long Island...
but it flew away...
12:18 it's there again!


12:20 it took off and showed no rings.

ravens still find something to pick on those skins.


ravens played also some sort of a coutship game

19:27 there is nobody in the ground

In the moonlight raccoon dogs came again.

two RDs still there...


i think the other left. they were quiet. ... later in the evening they weren't so quiet!

March 20 2013

One ringless young eagle was seen in a tree on Long Island around noon. Later in the afternoon one eagle with white-looking tail flew over the feeding groun high above it.

corvids on the ground... and this on the left looked like a young eagle. it flew over and scared ravens at 6:17.
then it landed on the nearest pine.


the eagle flew over the ground twice, first high at 6:19.


and then low again. ... and a third time.

and a fourth fly-over.
-actually i think it was checking what kind of food there was on the ground and was it safe. it came closer and closer each time, and in between it sat in the near pine on Long Island. i managed to capture three of these flights. first the eagle flew from somewhere on the left to a tree on the right side behind Curved Tree. then it flew over the food to the left and landed on Long Island.
from the pine in Long Island it flew low straight over the food... and made ravens and crows take off.


6:50 ... young eagle Spotty landing. no rings.


now it got back up in a pine.

7:03 Spotty is down again. it seems to be a bit uncertain about the food... it looks like a lump of frozen fish.




[7:28] it has begun to snow lightly. and Spotty has gone.
