18:50 Feeding by Grafs
four feedings till now
The oldest is 54 days old. still 6 days until the first possible fledge (The earliest documented fledge was 56 days in a nest with 4 chicks) On average, they spend 65-72 days in the nest, depending on the food available.
Hatch Times:
June 12th #1 is today 54 days old
June 14th #2 is today 52 days old
June 15th #3 is today 51 days old
BTW: There are documented cases of late broods.
In late broods or 2nd clutch, the chicks often do not fledge until the end of August or beginning of September.
For example, on a nest in Schleswig-Holstein, as well as on 2 nests in Mecklenburg-Pomerania.
since they were without a transmitter, it is not known whether they made it to Africa
Because of the food supply, I do not expect an early development. They will fledge around August 21st. That is still a long time!

Liz,
thank you very much for continously reporting of this nest.
I'm also sometimes worried, when i see less food coming in or the nest wobbling or as today again one of the storklets almost slipping down the nest edge
But then i'm happy when i see them practising and thriving.
The parents Graf and Grafiene are so very good caring and the storklets are so cute and eagerly want to reach their "flight-time".
I very much cross my fingers that all will go well.
(Since about one week i have a lot of trouble with my internet connection, it breaks down very often every day, sometimes for hours, it's annoying. The internet provider only says "yes, there is a malfunction" and "we are working on it". Unfortunately unsuccessful so far So, i'm not able to watch the cams nor contribute.)

August 5th
Good Morning balistar and all
balistar, The nest is still in good condition. With Gaja and Kaup it was also very tight in the nest. With a bit of luck, everything will go well. Food still seems OK. They just won't fledge prematurely. This would require an oversupply. My fingers are crossed, that all will end well.

5:08 resting- sleeping

nest life starts
