M.S. says this year there were only 0.8 Storklets per nest.

The first in this year's news is neutral with a positive note, although probably should start with the annual report, which would not be so positive. It was a long cleaning I always say that this is the time for memories; the parent remembers the good and bad events and drows the line between the old family and the unknown future family.

I know this nest well, in fact I think it was one of my firsts to watch, at that time cam was slow and unfriendly at all.
There were better years for Hungarian storks than the 2 last seasons. It's very sad to see dry nests

it was not a good season. There was lack of food at the beginning of the season. It was better, because the weather was so unusual for the season. Much rain....
It also has found less nest material. There was less moss and bigger branches, than the previous year.

Rasa must be disagree with you. Comparing with other nests it was a normal season in this nest: all the chicks hatched got fledged, nobody was killed by parents or eaten up by a goshawk.

But yes, Ozols may change the nest next year, because this place is not too safe(WTE attacked the nest every spring, goshawks showed up here).

Rasa is a Storklet, how could it be agree with me or not?

It was not good when you look at it in detail.

For Ozols the habitat with sufficient food will be more important, as potential danger by a hawk or WTE.
in this year, they must the chicks to leave alone, as they were still too small to protect themselves,
because food was missing. That may be much worse, as a WTE or goshawk.

You might be right. You can ask the specialist. They must have an answer.

Rasa could have been thrown away by Zile but wasn't, isn't is a miracle? The same thing with Ben in Hungarian nest. In general the season was normal, not exellent like for, say, Makov storklets, but not that bad, that is what I mean. The result is the main thing I suppose.

asteria, you're right with that. but how can we know, that Zile has tried Rasa to throw out of the nest? Perhaps it was Raivis? It will remain a mystery.

I'm also not sure, that Rasa is the younger storklet.
In the beginning Rasa was much more active, than Raivis. I was sure, that he/she flies as the first. after the transmitter was fitted, it changed.
Whether it has to do with the transmitter? No idea!
If both Juvenile would get a transmitter, it would have been easier, to draw conclusions. so it's just a guess, that the transmitter takes a impact on the developing for a moment.
