A fresh spruce twig means that the season is over and the eagle couple is planning to return next year! :loveshower:

he has brought a lot of spruce twigs since September 12! and a lot of other twigs too. He has almost build a new nest... So we have to wait and see. The season is over when he doesn't come back. He took a 1 day break. I thought now he's gone ... :whistling:
2019 Anna was on nest on September 23! Is better to be patient.

Was that a juvenile LSE voice at 11:02 or thereabouts? far away and very faint, but audible nonetheless!

Noted by Andra on YT chat.

Image Latvijas Dabas fonds
The documentary nature film produced as part of the Latvian Nature Fund project "Ensuring the protection of the lesser spotted eagle in Latvia", tells about the life of the lesser spotted eagle, shows the life cycle of a bird, but is also a story about nature's processes in a broader perspective. The habitats necessary for the sustainable survival of the lesser spotted eagle - old forests with large trees, meadows and pastures - are very rich in nature, so the restoration of suitable habitats for the lesser spotted eagle preserve the diversity of the ecosystem as a whole. The film shows the processes of habitat restoration in the Kuja Nature Park and on the island of Grivu in Lubāna and shows the management options for the lesser spotted eagle.

The authors of the film have been following the work of the project leader, the ornithologist Jānis Ķuze, for several seasons, inspecting the nests of the little eagles and advocating their protection.

The film was shot by the RUCKA arts center, directed and cameraman Māris Maskalāns.

The films were shot with the support of the LIFE program.
