Oh what sad news! I had hoped so much to see Metra back today morning!
Got up once in the early morning as I was uploading files over night and quickly opened the cam, saw the chick alone and hoped it'll be only for short. Now I read that Macho tried his best, poor chap! But - thanks to Grieta for telling us, that the chick was taken back and will be raised. Thanks also to Dr. Bergmanis for his work. Thankfully the nest seems to be in reachable distance for him!

Good morning!
I can hardly beleave what was happening with the Metra and Macho family and the new born bird. I spent many of hours with them and so it is painful for me. I hope and pray that the little one will grow with the help of experts and live long and sound. Thank you to everybody who accompanied the time here.
I will now look forward with the new nest that is shown and thank for the possibility to do so.

Kitty: You are on my mind with your sorrow about your mother. The first year after this bereavement is very hard. Everything what happens without the lost person - you think you cannot go through. The next year will be a bit better and with every year more one can think at every event remembering easier but still whole-hearted. (It is 40 years in July when my husband died by an accident. I think when one is older and had more years together the lost will be greater.) All the best wishes to you and your Ma.

So we finally get to see Gint's and Grieta's chick - thank you for sharing the address with us! When I looked in just now, the little one was getting food!
Just can say again, that I hope that the other unlucky chick will survive this ordeal and be raised even without the help of eagle parents! Bleggi said it quite correctly, I have had this cam open whenever I had the other ones on and was watching Metra and Macho trying to start their family and my heart was bleeding to hear that it did not work out!
Thanks again to Grieta and the Latvian forum!

Kitty - I hope you will find (have found) some rest and will be able to console your mother a bit tomorrow. It's a hard time and lots of strength is necessary! Sometimes it takes a bit to get the full meaning of what has happened and it's even worse then. Please also look after yourself as well!
