Re: Lesser Spotted Eagles - Camera 2 - 2017 (Latvia)
It was a busy day, but with only once a bird seen on the nest.
See https://dabasdati.lv/forums/viewtopic.p ... 08#p129208
Most of the calling was stationary at the same distance. To me it seems to point to a new nest a couple of hundred meters to the left or middle background.

Since 5:45 regularly calling, always far away. Until 10.00 when one came calling from the left background and flew past the nest.
(Is that a transmitter on its back?)

Mainly in the early afternoon there was a often calling near the nest of a flying eagle. Later, until c. 19:00, it was far away.

The last couple of days the cam is very good if you like to listen to a singing Blackbird. Sometimes he is very close to the cam.
And of course many other birds can be heard (and sometimes seen), including Lesser spotted eagle.

It was already earlier and I think it is a tree trunk or branch, but as far as I know this is the first day it occurs. Perhaps because of the direction of the wind.Marfo wrote:April 29

That was also my first thought but the past 45 minutes it sometimes sounded exactly like a Magpie. Now it's gone and so is the wind. You may be right.
Yes the Blackbird is singing a lot. A few days ago it sat singing near the microphone. It was so loud I had to turn down the volume.

17:28 Both eagles for a short time on the nest. The first brought a frog, the second eat it.
Strange, both were calling on the nest but it sounded as if it was much farther away.

They were less than two minutes on the nest, so they are easy to miss.Marfo wrote:They always come when I'm not watching.

19:48-19:52 Eagle on the nest.
Why is it that any bird at a distance of, say, 20 meters or more is loud and clear, while a calling eagle on the nest is hardly audible? Is the microphone out of focus?
