20:18:45 thunder! that strike was not very far. there was a loud BANG! in the beginning and echoing with decreasing volume after that. if the strike is far the volume of the echoing rumbling begins to grow and then decreases again.
the lightning was visible in the top right corner. it was also audible: the electro-magnetic pulse can be heard as a zzrrit! at the same time as the lightning was visible.
the lightning is the red "cloud" against the blue sky.

the sound started 10 s after the lightning so the strike was at least 3 km but not farther than 4 km away.

20:37 hard rain started. that lasted for about 10 min. then lighter rain...

it's raining very hard and there's thunder.
the first lightning struck about 4 km away (the delay of sound was 12 s).Image

the sound of the second lightning took 10 s to travel here, i.e. the strike was about 3 km away.

after these strikes it rained really hard for about an hour.

6:27 a young great spotted woodpecker flew to the top.

then to the right branch and back to the top.

he/she called there... i couldn't see when he/she flew away.

6:33:25 two eagles sang in the forest, a male and a female. they were rather far.
6:34:15 more voices. (funny voices ?)
6:35:35 more voices of eagles from rather far (and a woodpecker near but out of sight). these a bit strange calls. they were partly singing and partly the calls sounded like an argument. :puzzled:

7:27 a juvenile great spotted woodpecker visited the right branch.

and the top. then on the left branch.
7:28 a chaffinch on the poop branch and then on the nest and back to branches and back to nest....

7:36 a little brown bird with white narrow stripes on the wings and on the sides of the tail. this was not a chaffinch. a female pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca)? but she didn't twitch her wings. :puzzled:

8:43 a wood pigeon flew to the top.

he sang there. another pigeon sang far as his echo. they sang in turns. :whistling:
8:44:32 the pigeon flew away. i heard the wings but i didn't see him.

20:10 a juvenile great spotted woodpecker came and took a cone but then abandoned it.

then the woodpecker went upstairs.


i could not see or hear when the woodpecker flew away.

days begin to dawn at about half past 4. birds don't sing much anymore.
it's quite calm, no wind at all. the sky is cloudy but not dark.

5:55 a cow moo'ed. :rolleyes:
then the bird with the strange voice called.
5:56 a nuthatch called near the nest but out of view. also the strange bird voice called nearby.

6:05 he flew away.

6:06 a nuthatch came to search the nest.

6:07 the first nuthatch flew away from the right branch to the right and a second nuthatch flew to the right branch from the left. there were two of them! :laugh:
