this was a woodpecker yes. it made just one call. before i heard the lesser spotted woodpecker's calls i would have said that this was definitely a greater spotted woodpecker. actually i still think so.

I heard that one. When it started I thought it was a disturbed Blackbird but then I also was tending towards Nuthatch.

Yes, it's problem when some bird calls near the microphone. Voice can be very strange due to distortion

A good example is Great Tit when close. Some frequencies missing or reduced? I can hear Goldcrests calling, so the highest frequencies are not the problem.
