äsch, the light was so bad that i don't know if any pictures are even as good as the Pontu picture. i haven't looked at them yet, but i don't expect much... :slap:
here's a gif:

here's a half-speed slow-motion clip of the eagle.
(i made a hopefully better-quality clip with increased frame-rate)

Right he seems to have blue over black. In the blue a 3(?) and a letter (H?), in the black a 2 and a 6(?)
Left is black with 0 over 6 and some letters.
I can't find a code like it on cr-birding.

PS. Blue over black is Latvia.

that's what i think i saw on his rings, too. on right Latvian blue over black with H362 and on the right all- black K096.
the letter K was not very clearly seen except right when he was leaving.

i made an even tighter close-up clip with 30 frames/s and in 1/3 of normal speed slow motion.

around 14:41 A Jay imitating a Buzzard comes to the nest and lands on the left branch. Then he sings like a Jay should.

Vērotāja in dabasdati got the idea to look at the picture of Durbe's and Robert's chicks from last year and found some interesting similarities:
http://dabasdati.lv/forums/viewtopic.php?p=51517#p51517

i borrowed Vērotāja's picture. i hope Vērotāja does not mind.
then i manipulated it a little and zoomed on the rings. the chick on the left has H over 6 on the right leg's Latvian ring and K and possibly 0 over 9 followed by something unclear (blue box). the chick on the right has on the left leg a ring with a code ending with 7 (green box). this might suggest that the last missing number in the first chick's ring could be 6. :whistling: (or it could be 8 as well...)
interesting! :D

if i understood correct they have sent a message to Jānis about this. i sent a message to him earlier. let's hope he can give us some information later.

I just checked the data base - observed bird is one of the last years siblings, that left the nest in this breeding territory! This is the youngest of three chicks (wing length 26 cm, other two - 29 and 32 cm). Good observation!

Another opportunity to appreciate the great work of Janis and Co.

Hope we'll see, next year, our Angel coming back to visit us quiet like this one. :rotf:

19:42 Someone or something is down there, at least since 19:34
19:52 Still a lot of noise. It does sound a lot like a human being.
