Bride cut a spruce twig off the right branch and brought it into the nest. it's her first effort to decorate the nest. :shake:
Robert doesn't seem to disapprove the twig but he doesn't look very excited either.

Bride went up to the balcony.

these were perhaps ravens, too. there were a lot of raven voices at the same time. i think that the rhythm of wing beat matches ravens, too.
a gang of youngsters?

10:26 i heard the püü-vee - püü-vee - püü-vee calls again. it must have been the pygmy owl.

- also Vilcene in DD seems to think that it was a pygmy owl:

Trine mentioned in the morning that swans were hyperactive. :D
besides in the early morning i found and saw them flying back and forth several times.
8:42

9:39

9:57

9:59

i think i saw also an episode where one swan flew from right to left and was followed by another two swans who then turned back to right. i just can't find when that was... :slap:
probably the two swans are declaring their territory by flying around the area and calling.

you can see quite clearly for a while that Robert is not able to straighten 2 of his "toes" of his left foot...the claws are bent inwards. Perhaps a nerve or the tendons/sinews are injured - then it is doubtful that it will get better...But we hope...

i found this episode. :D
instead of three swans there were four of them at 7:03. first they flew in one group and then one of them flew away to the left while the other three continued to the right.
there was actually only one frame in the whole video where all four could be seen reasonably well at the same time.

i made a slow-motion close-up clip of them (1/4th of normal speed; the sound is silly).

yes, he seems to keep the two toes bent into a 'fist' most of the time.

i made a slow-motion (1/3 of normal speed) close-up clip of Robert jumping to the branch and down again to see his foot more clearly.
it seems to me that he is able to straighten the two crooked toes if necessary so they aren't very badly injured. he was also able to place all his weight on the injured foot alone on the branch albeit for a split second but anyway.
hopefully the foot will recover at least a little. i may take a long time though...
so far the limp will 'serve' us as a marker of Robert. fingers crossed that he'll loose this marker soon!

thanks for the video, ame
I think you are right - if necessary, he is able to "open" his toes. Good!

Yes, let´s keep our fingers crossed...such kind of marker is really not welcome...
