There was heavy fighting and chasing away from the nest at 15:40 and 15:41

Looks as if there were at least three adults involved and the young Lithuaninan WtE was just an interested visitor ....

At 15:41 two WtEs flew each other down from the nest tree, branches cracking and squeaking WtEs ....

For me it looks as if there were two females fighting ...

to me the male seemed to have robert's tail spots and a slight limp. if it really is him then he seems to have a new bride whether he likes it or not. that girl seems to be determined to stay. she is measuring curtains in her mind...

this is their arrival.

our opinions play no role in what these birds do, eagles or ospreys. it is not our place to want or wish anything. nature will find its way and will take its course regardless of us... we are only spectators here.

if something has happened to Durbe then it is best that Robert finds a new spouse. it would be terrible waste if a male like him would fail to breed.

besides it seems that he has found a handsome bride.
- or maybe she found him.

Robert took a stick from the back rim of the nest and flew away. then he flew a couple of rounds around the nest and came back with the stick. then he started looking for a place for it. was this finally a sign of approval of the new female?
- i think it was Robert who took the stick and brought it back..? :puzzled:

Robert seems to hesitate still. she is so dominant. i think Robert's mind is already made up for him... :whistling:

Jep. In this context I can't help but thinking of the hunting season and how dangerous it is for raptors (not because they are targets but because of this notorious lead in ammunition). However, there is still hope and probability that Durbe will be back.
