yesterday afternoon the eagles were left here at the nest when the first chick began hatching in the Estonian nest. :whistling:
viewtopic.php?p=454184#p454184
today i have had time to make some Pontu clips of events after this. they were left here lounging....

14:14 there was a mating attempt which made me laugh again.
Ansis jumped on Egle's back and for a while it looked like in rodeo: Egle shook herself from side to side trying to shake Ansis off her back. but Ansis managed to hold on and in the end he almost fell on his back, after he had (at least almost) reached under Egle's tail. Egle, however, didn't look very happy. she went up the balcony after the attempt.

18:53 a greater spotted woodpecker visited the nest.
first a male with the red spot in the back of his neck.
Image

it went out of the picture. ... and returned peeking into the camera. :D
Image

I heard the birds since 20:03

20:03 I only heard the bird and did not see him. Now I watched the video again, it is well camouflaged

20:11 one of them is still on the left branch

Image

20:14 two flew away. one from the branch and one from the treetop
these birds vainamoinen identified as fieldfares (Turdus pilaris).
i'll leave the second picture by Liz for an illustration. there one can see the ash-grey back on the bird on the left. that is a characteristic of fieldfares.
they also sang in their modest way.

then Ansis made an attempt which was one of the most pathetic ones that i have seen so far. this time he tried to approach the 'task' from the front. even he himself didn't seem quite believe it would work.

18:23 Eagle is in the nest- call. Ansis arrives ( then it was a camera break)

18:25 Ansis jumped on the left branch. Egle flew out. it was not a normal meet. They have their nest defended.

18:33 Ansis pooped in the nest and flew away

Ame, Thanks for the beautiful bird of yesterday.

I remembered something with woodpecker, but not the full name. (Now I'll try to remember it has to do with LSE  It'll be easier next time...).
